For the better part of Monday, residents of Bogetenga ward in Gotichaki, Omogwa and Nyabigena areas in South Mugirango received free avocado seedlings from the area MP Sylvanus Osoro.
The legislator presided over the handing over of the avocado seedlings to several residents and urged them to venture into farming.
"Residents of South Mugirango will never be the same again because I have good dreams. I urge residents to plant the avocado seedlings in their farms so that when they harvest avocados, they can sell and earn a living," he stated.
The MP maintained that he is committed to eradicating poverty from the constituency by ensuring that residents are not idle.
He vowed to distribute the free avocado seedlings to all residents in the constituency.
"Including those who did not vote for me during August 8, 2017, polls they will get the free avocado seedlings. We must shine the constituency as a team. I encourage residents to take up agriculture seriously since it is the backbone of the economy in this country," noted Osoro.
Osoro warned rivals against politicising the free avocado donation.
