Speaking on Sunday in Ngulini, Maendeleo Chap Chap party chairman Stephen Musumbi said that the two are respectable leaders from the same region and don't need to wash their dirty linens in public.

"Sonko and Mutua are neighbours and seeing them take on each other in public is disheartening. They should solve their differences like brothers from the same region in a way that even outsiders would not know something is wrong," said Musumbi.

He noted that mishaps between the two county bosses would have been solved with a phone call had they swallowed their pride.

Mutua and Sonko's squabble started after the Machakos governor claimed that statues in Nairobi CBD were not well maintained and even offered to take care of them personally.

The utterances seemed to anger governor Sonko who sent county workers to clean the statues the next day.

In what seemed like a retaliation, Sonko later stormed Machakos police station where five of Kalembe Ndile's workers were held after they were arrested by officers from the county health department following the closure of the hotel.

Kalembe had claimed that closure of his hotel was political after he warned Mutua against worrying about other counties when there was so much to be done in Machakos.
