Speaking on Sunday when he hosted scores of leaders led by Raila, Tolgos said that his county was open to all Kenyans and not to a particular political faction.

"I want to say that you are all welcome in Elgeyo Marakwet. As the governor, I would like to say that that Elgeyo Marakwet is open to all Kenyans. We reject those who are saying that Elgeyo Marakwet belongs to a certain political faction. We are inside the handshake. (Nataka kusema mnakaribishwa Elgeyo Marakwet. Mimi kama governor nimesema Elgeyo Marakwet iko wazi kwa kila mtu. Hatuwezi taka wale watu wanasema Elgeyo Marakwet ni ya mrengo huu ama ule mwingine. Sisi tuko ndani ya handshake, " Tolgos said.

The county boss elected on a Jubilee ticket said that he had engaged the elders of his county and shared their ideas with the Building Bridges Committee moving forward.

Raila on his part hailed Elgeyo Marakwet's commitment to moving forward and to unite its people.

"Visited the people of Elgeyo Marakwet and was encouraged by their well thought out ideas on the way forward for all of us as a people, " Odinga wrote on Facebook of his visit to the county.
