Embattled former National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich will continue receiving half of the salary he received while heading the docket, political analyst Alex Manyasi says.

Rotich has since been replaced following his arraignment in court on Tuesday last week, over allegations of taking part in the multi billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

But Manyasi says that Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, who is also in the same situation, will continue draining funds from the taxpayer's coffers.

He claims that until the case is determined, the two remain partially on the government payroll, even after Labour CS Ukur Yattani took over the docket in an acting capacity.

"He will continue receiving half his salary until the case is concluded, its his right (Bado ataendelea kupata nusu ya mshahara wake hadi kesi iishe, hiyo ni haki yake)," he said.

The commentator made the remarks during an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning, hosted by presenter Billy Miya.

He ruled out any chances of Rotich being reinstated even in the instance that he is cleared of the blame, noting that the case might take too long as has been seen with such cases.

According to Manyasi, the fact that his position is already filled, though on an interim basis, shows that President Uhuru Kenyatta is considering bringing in another person.

"The issue about Rotich is over, there already is a person in his office and corruption cases normally take so long (Mambo ya Rotich imeisha. Tayari kuna mtu kwa ofisi yake na kesi za ufisadi huchukua muda mrefu)," he added.
