Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has endorsed the creation of the post of the Prime Minister as outlined in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Speaking at his Yatta home on Monday, Kalonzo, however, said that the Prime Minister should be given more powers than suggested by the report. He noted that the post will act leverage in power-sharing.
The Kamba political kingpin suggested that the fact that the President has taken all roles is among the reasons Kenya has been experiencing issues to do with leadership. Kalonzo noted that the creation of the post will transform this nation in different ways.
"My opinion is that the Prime minister should have more powers so that he dilutes the extreme powers being enjoyed by the president currently," said the Wiper Party leader
He also said that he is ready to work with other leaders to realize the economic empowerment of this nation. Kalonzo reiterated that he will join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp come 2022 so that he can be part of the government.
The politician alluded that President Kenyatta remains a significant figure in the politics of this nation even as the end of his second term in office comes closer.
