Police officers in Kericho on Saturday evening nabbed six more suspects in relations to the murder of Rai Cement Factory manager Chetan Vyas.
The arrest closely followed that of five suspects who have also been linked to the murder of Mr Vyas who was found dead in his home within the factory compound on September 23.
The three; Hillary Cheruiyot Kemboi (36), Daniel Ruto (52) and Michael Nicholas Mibei (42) were nabbed by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Thw detectives said that they found a phone belonging to the late Mr Vyas in the home of one of them, but said that the phone was mutilated.
The DCI suspect that the three, who had sold Rai Factory a section of land it sits on, destroyed the phone to erase traces of evidence after getting involved in the killing.
"The killers are believed to have destroyed the phone to erase traces of evidence. Several other damaged sim cards linked to other crimes were also recovered from Mibei’s house," said the DCI, according to the Citizen Digital.
The police are also investigating terror in the matter, which led to the arrest of Osman Noor (42), Azim Salim (38), Shabdin Ismail (29), Yacoob Wali (24) and Mohamed Shahid (38) on Saturday morning.
The five are workers at the firm's sister factory in Mombasa.
"They are all loading Supervisors in Rai Cement Company from Mombasa. The aspect of terror is also being investigated in the murder,” added the Directorate.
The arrests followed extreme forensic investigations in a bid to nab and prosecute those thought to have been involved in the killing of the man.
