Foreign loans could plunge the nation into a financial crisis, Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amolo has said.
In an interview with NTV live, Otiende said that the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government is borrowing at an alarming rate.
He said that Jubilee supporters have no reasons to lament over the poor performance of the government when they fully backed Uhuru’s reelection. He also hit out at Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko after his video surfaced online while having fun outside the country.
“All the people who voted for Jubilee should celebrate what they voted for. When you see Sonko dancing that is what you voted for, when the public debt rises that is what you voted for, “he said.
He also said that the current system of leadership is partly to blame for the problems facing this nation. He noted that the handshake between President Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Amolo Odinga have hampered the effort for good governance. He said that most corrupt governors and other leaders are not hiding behind the handshake.
“It is true that the legislature hasn’t offered the checks and balances it should to the executive. This isn’t because of the handshake, its because of the system of government we have,” he added.
