Speaking on Sunday, the former Gatanga parliamentarian claimed that his Jubilee Party, which was supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta, as well acquired some support.

However, he rubbished claims that controversial firm, Cambridge Analytica, among others, wrote Uhuru's speeches, saying the allegations cannot be proved.

There have been claims that Cambridge Analytica was deeply involved in spreading propaganda against Uhuru's then-rival Raila Odinga.

At the same time, Murathe admitted that he was not privy to all firms that were involved in Uhuru's campaigns.

"There is no proof that the President was aware of the Cambridge Analytica firm. And these social media things don't work in Kenya," he said during an interview K24's Punchline.

On the side of Raila Odinga's National Super Alliance (NASA), Murathe claimed their campaigns and branding were handled by a firm named Aristotle.

"I was not privy to all the groups who were doing all this. Nasa had Aristotle. When you do a campaign you do scenarios. I am surprised to hear that Cambridge Analytica did Jubilee briefs," he said in a tweet by K24 TV.

UK MP and former Analytica employee Alexandra Phillips earlier in the month admitted that the firm was indeed deeply involved in helping Uhuru retain his seat.
