Uasin Gishu chairman of the Muslim Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Sheikh Abubakar Bini has proposed that those involved in corruption should face life imprisonment.
He opined that this will reduce the cases of corruption which has been the order of the day by 90 per cent.
“Those involved in stealing of public funds should face life imprisonment this will act as an example to those with similar intentions of stealing public funds,” said Bini.
Bini who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Saturday said the fight against corruption should be supported by all Kenyans of goodwill since the vice has increased the country’s wage bill.
“As religious leaders, we are calling on the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji together with Kenyan court to come up with stringent penalties to those involved in corruption such as freezing their accounts, life imprisonment and completely removing them in office,” added the Uasin Gishu CIPK chairman.
He further called on these two bodies to ensure that public funds that have been stolen are taken back and serve its purpose of helping Kenyans.
Bini further warned politicians against defending those involved in stealing public funds since they stole alone and should carry their cross regardless of their political or tribal affiliations.
Bini noted that they fully support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s in his move of fighting corruption and called on Kenyans to support him to make Kenya great.
