Member of Parliament for Malindi Aisha Jumwa has come out to blame the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party for the death of man who was shot amid scuffle involving the MP and ODM supporters.
Speaking in a video that was shared on her Twitter handle on Tuesday night, several hours after it the man was allegedly shot, Aisha Jumwa claimed ODM should be held responsible.
Aisha Jumwa is alleged to have stormed the home of ODM candidate in the upcoming Ganda ward by-election Reuben Katana where he was holding a meeting with other ODM officials and agents. A scuffle between Aisha Jumwa's supporters and those of the ODM candidate forced police to disperse the crowd using teargas canisters.
The MP claimed that she was not aware of what was happening at Katana's home citing that there were two land rovers with police officers.
She further questioned the presence of the police officers at Katana's home whom she claimed were protecting the ODM candidate as he carried out the meeting.
"What I can say is that; what ODM has done, those who were at the meeting knowing that the campaign period had ended, those are the ones that should be held responsible for the death of the man who was killed.
(Kwa hivyo kile kitu ambacho mimi nataka nikiseme, nataka kusema kwamba; kitendo ambacho ODM wamefanya, wale waliopanga katika ule mkutano pale wakijua kwamba campaign period ilikua imeisha, wao ndio wanastahili kuwa held responsible na hiyo death ya huyo jamaa aliyefariki)," Aisha Jumwa stated in the video.
