The MP, LBDA Managing Director Peter Anguko and Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo were last week arraigned in a Nairobi court over alleged involvement in the graft saga and released in bond after denying the charges.

His constituents on Sunday held demonstrations within the constituency, threatening to recall him for being charged with corruption.

They announced plans to collect signatures and present them to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to have the position declared vacant.

They accused him of poor performance, with one demonstrator saying that the court should have held him for even longer as nothing has been happening in the sub county.

“There is no work going on in the constituency at the moment. Obiri should be detained for a week pending investigations (Hakuna kazi inaendelea kwa constituency. Obiri aongezewe muda kidogo ata wiki moja akae kwa cell achunguzwe)," said one Moses Anyona.

Rodgers Ongeri, another demonstrator, claimed that the process of collecting signatures will begin today (Monday), also accusing him of poor performance.

"Starting tomorrow, we will be collecting signatures to send Obiri home in accordance with the constitution which says that if somebody is not performing they can be recalled," said Ongeri.

The threat on his stay in office comes days after the impeachment of Oloo on Wednesday last week, only hours after appearing in court.
