ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale on Tuesday revealed two reasons why he does not want Deputy President William Ruto to be the president in 2022.
Firstly, he asserted that the DP is partly to blame for the endemic problems Kenyans are currently facing.
According to Etale, those who opine that the deputy president would provide amicable solutions to the numerous challenges Kenyans are facing, are mentally incapacitated.
"I'm unapologetically one of the fiercest critics of the possibility of William Ruto's Presidency because I believe strongly in two things. One, that William Ruto as the second in command is part of the endemic problems Kenyans are facing today and it's only a mentally unstable person who believes that William Ruto can provide solutions to problems he brought about," Etale wrote on his Facebook page.
Secondly, the ODM party official is opposed to the presidential post rotating around two communities.
"Two, Kenya is such a diverse country for top leadership to be a preserve of two communities," Etale added.
The move by William Ruto to defend many of his allies implicated in graft have made DP's critics believe that he is partially to blame for the troubles Kenyans are going through. Being accused of committing crimes against humanity during the 2007 post-election violence also rubbed DP's critics the wrong way.
Since independence, Kenyan presidents have been from Kikuyu and Kalenjin ethnic communities. The first president was Jomo Kenyatta (Kikuyu), second Daniel Moi (Kalenjin), third Mwai Kibaki (Kikuyu) and the fourth one who is still in power is Uhuru Kenyatta (Kikuyu).
