Kibra by-election contestant Eliud Owalo invested most of his resources in 2013 while running Raila Odinga's presidential campaigns, Wafula Buke has claimed.

Mr Owalo founded Friends of Raila (FORA) movement which eventually took over Mr Odinga's campaigns, with him taking over as chairman Secretariat.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Buke, who has since lost his job as Director Strategy, insisted that Mr Owalo doesn't deserve bad treatment from Raila's team.

Buke claimed that Owalo's finances dwindled forcing auctioneers to pull away his Range Rover since he could no longer pay for his loans to creditors.

"Due to him, Norman Magaya was employed, wafula Buke was brought on board to "tackle moles" to quote him.

"When he left office, Owalo had spent a fortune was sinking due to loans at one time his Range Rover was pulled away by auctioneers," he said.

According to the leftist politician, who still enjoys cordial relationship with Mr Odinga, Owalo straightened Mr Odinga's campaigns despite losing to Jubilee albeit controversially.

It's his inclusive approach, Buke adds, that Owalo attracted rebellion from ODM insiders, who allegedly forced him to pull out of the party.

"Operational realities compelled our leader, Rao to make him National Presidential Campaign Manager instead of the boardroom Muluka, Ongwen.

"Under him things started moving based on his consultative and inclusive leadership. Imran was not yet born. Owalo took over Raila's political space after elections," he claimed.

Owalo, who is running for Kibra by-election on ANC ticket, parted ways with Mr Odinga in 2017. He had accused Odinga of forcing his daughter Rosemary Odinga to Kibra race by them.

Even though Rosemary Odinga pulled out after falling sick, Owalo went on to lose to Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer recently. Owalo will now face Okoth's brother Imran, Jubilee's McDonald Mariga among others in November polls.
