Robert Muthomi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has been caught up in a scandal that has caused him to step aside.
The FKF boss is accused of trying to deploy underhand tactics in selling Harambee Stars and Sofapaka sensation John Avire.
Muthomi, in a statement to newsrooms, said that his move to step aside was informed by the need to allow for investigations to be carried out to their logical conclusion.
"Given the on-going debate and conversations in regards to the allegations made by Sofapaka FC on my purported involvement in the transfer of player John Avire, I have this morning requested the FKF President to allow me to step aside for investigations to commence, " his statement to newsrooms read, as quoted by Standard Media Groups Game Yetu.
Muthomi said that stepping aside would help in restoring confidence in him and the FKF, help dispel the notion that he was keen on circumventing the investigations.
He faces allegations of trying to sell the forward without the involvement of his local club Sofapaka.
Nick Mwendwa, FKF's president said that he had indeed received a letter from Sofapaka with claims that Muthomi wanted to sell their player.
John Avire was part of the Kenyan team that played in the African Cup of Nations in Cairo.
