President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined the family of the late former Lang’ata MP Mwangi Mathai in mourning.

Uhuru said that the death of the former lawmaker is a big blow not only to the family but also the entire nation. 

He promised to stand with the family during this moment of trial.  Mathai died while he was undergoing treatment at the undergoing treatment. 

The head of State eulogised him as a strong, brave, and bold politician who made a great contribution to the development of this nation.

"President Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence and encouragement to the family, relatives and friends of former Lang’ata MP Mwangi Mathai who died while undergoing treatment. In his message, the President described the late Mwangi as a bold, brave and astute leader," he said.

He also said that the deceased will be remembered as a businessman who created thousands of jobs for the youths during his lifetime.

Mwangi was a consummate motivational writer during his inactive years of politics. He used his books to motivate different groups of people after he chose to take a break from the political arena. 

He other several books including “Beyond Poverty and Vulnerability in Kenya”.

Mwangi was also a former husband of Nobel laureate, the late Prof Wangari Mathai.
