Meru County Speaker Joseph Kaberia's bodyguard Constable Samuel Munga was on Sunday morning shot dead during an alleged attack at Kamiti Corner in Nairobi.
Police are currently holding the speaker's official driver Andrew Nabea who also had gunshot wounds on his leg for further questioning as investigations into the incident continue.
According to the police, the driver may have shot his colleague out of anger after a disagreement and then shot himself. The car in which the two were driving in also had a bullet hole.
Police recovered two guns from the scene. One belonged to the deceased bodyguard while the other one belonged to the driver. The former's gun had not fired any bullet while the later's had fired 20 bullets.
“It seems he fired either out of rage or to defend himself,” a police officer who visited the scene told Standard Media.
The guns were taken for analysis to find out whether it was Nabea's gun which was used in the killing.
“It seems they disagreed. The cartridges recovered from the scene suggest they were fired by the driver," a police officer said as quoted by The standard media.
The driver's sister who is being held as a witness also revealed that the suspect had called her at around 3:00 am to request if he could spend the rest of the night at her place.
