The trade unionist is among the organizers of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) consultative forum at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

While rubbishing claims that the rally will be used to declare the new Luhya kingpin, he on Friday said that the crowning of the region's new political spokesman will be done in 2021.

Atwoli who held another kingpin declaration in 2016, where ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi was handed the de-facto seat, said that he will personally fund the 2021 declaration.

"This meeting is not about crowning anyone, that one will come next year. Don't worry, I will fund it myself (Huu mkutano sio wa kisiasa eti tunakuja kuweka mtu kwa kiti, hiyo itakuja next year. Usiogope, I will fund it myself)," he said.

Atwoli, who spoke when he led other area leaders in inspecting the venue ahead of the Saturday function, was responding BBI critics who have termed it politically informed.

Kakamega Senator Cleopa Malala assured locals planning to attend the function of their safety, saying that their safety is guaranteed.

He said that apart from police officers who will be manning the venue, he has also sought the services of youth to stand guard.

"Security will be provided by both the police and our youth to ensure that our meeting is safe  (Tutakua na security ya serikali na ya vijana kuhakikisha kwamba mkutano wetu uko sawa)," said the lawmaker.

ODM leader Raila Odinga, who is a co-founder of the BBI, has confirmed attending the forum.
