Suna East member of parliament Junet Mohamed has weighed in on the Naivasha meeting that was held by members of the Tanga Tanga group, a political grouping of Deputy President Dr William Ruto's allies.
In a press conference on Tuesday flanked by other members of parliament, the Suna East legislator sensationally claimed that the impeachment of President Uhuru Kenyatta was discussed at length.
He said that signatures have already been collected to impeach the head of state before the expiry of his term in 2022.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) dared the DP Ruto allies to bring the impeachment motion.
“We are aware their Naivasha agenda was not BBI. It was about impeaching President Uhuru Kenyatta. They collected signatures to ensure this happens. We are telling them, bring it on. We are ready, " the Suna East member of parliament said.
The Naivasha meeting has widened the rift between the DP Ruto allies and President Uhuru and Raila Odinga allies.
In the meeting, those present reached the decision to hold Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings separate from the ones being led by Mr Odinga.
There are concerns that the separate BBI meetings will undermine the unity that the initiative seeks to achieve.
