Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) managing director Bakari Gowa is set to record a statement with Criminal Investigations (DCI) in relation to the Likoni Channel accident.
The incident claimed two lives, a mother, Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda when their car slid from MV Harambee and plunged into the Indian Ocean.
Likoni sub-county police commander Benjamin Rotich on Sunday said a multi-agency team was planning a date to summon Gowa for a statement.
“We are still planning on when he is to appear before us and record statements. We are yet to set a day since we are still consulting with relevant government agencies. However, if need be, he will be summoned by detectives to shed more light on the ferry accident,” said Rotich as quoted by People Daily.
The police boss also noted that the other five KFS officials who were on duty when the car plunged into the ocean had already recorded a statement.
The KFS boss, however, said he is ready to record a statement with DCI, but declined to have been summoned.
“I have not yet be summoned but I welcome the move to investigate the tragic accident. If the police are planning to question me, I am ready. I will cooperate if I am summoned,” he said.
