Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has dismissed claims that a section of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have hacked a plot to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta before 2022.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Kuria said that the claims are a joke taken to another level.
He argued that there is no way they can impeach a president they elected. Kuria also said that it is unfortunate that leaders cannot meet and discuss issues of public interest at this time when the President Kenyatta's succession debate has intensified.
"I really want to take distinction on who is pro-president. We are all pro-president. I think you have been fed with that garbage that some people are pro-president while others are not pro-President. Second as we seated in Naivasha and the Deputy President was not there. We were members of Jubilee but like-minded," he said.
He added: "Members from ODM, members from Ford Kenya and all other parties but on this issues of impeachment you know I saw that on news today and I thought was I coming for Churchill Live or SideBar. It is really a joke. It is supposed to be a scarecrow that people cannot sit and discuss something that we were called to discuss because of the so called impeachment claims by people like Gladys Wanga."
Kuria also said that they respect the President, adding that they are ready to support him until he completes his second and final term in government. On the issue of BBI, he said that the recommendations must be people-driven and not leadership positions as it has been perceived.
