Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that his 2022 presidential ambitions remain intact despite the bad opinion some Kenyans have of him.
The leader has repeatedly been accused of not being aggressive and serious in realizing his bid, by among others, Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli.
Asked about his confidence in winning the seat despite being described as colourless, boring and unable to excite the masses, on Sunday, he rubbished such as non-issues.
He said that he is instead offering proper leadership, citing counties where he said people proceeded to pick exciting persons, only to end up on the regretting end at the end.
"Do you want someone to be seen as exciting you? Look at counties, people made emotional decisions and now are regretting," he said on K24's Punchline, Sunday night.
And while he admitted being not as aggressive as some of the politicians in his calibre, he faulted those dismissing him, hinting that they might be in for a rude shock.
He gave examples with former Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki, both of whom were rubbished, only to end up occupying the Statehouse.
"Look at Moi, there were those who called him a passing cloud. Some people called Kibaki General somebody...and he left a legacy. This is my style. All that glitters is not gold," he added.
However, the leader is not new to taking shots at the presidency, after doing the same in the 2013 polls where he appeared a distant third.
In 2017, he shelved his bid in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga under the National Super Alliance (NASA) arrangement.
