Edwin Abonyo, the widower to former Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso, admits that he's partly responsible for his wife's success in politics.
Dr Abonyo, who first came into limelight when Joyce died in July, was rarely seen in campaign caravans of his wife according to those who spoke during Laboso's funeral.
But behind the scenes, he said in an interview on Sunday, he put a formidable Secretariat which ran campaigns for Dr Laboso both as an MP for Sotik and Bomet governor.
Further, he said, he was also responsible for the campaign Secretariat of Laboso's sister Lorna who died in 2008 following a plane crush.
"Power did not get into our heads. One thing I resolved is to love my wife and support her, as we are partners," he said.
He said Governor Hillary Barchok, who succeeded Laboso, rode to power on the strength of his wife and that it was the vision of Laboso which would have sustained the county for the next three years.
"All the officials in the administration were put there by Joyce, and she put them there on merit. So I hope they fulfil the vision that gave them jobs for the betterment of the people of Bomet county," he said.
Joyce was first elected in 2008 in a by-election following the death of Lorna. She successfully defended the seat in 2013. She won gubernatorial seat in 2017.
She died in July after decades of battle with cancer. Dr Laboso also served as substantive Deputy Speaker in 12th parliament.
