Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has proposed a technique he believes President Uhuru Kenyatta can use to speedily eradicate poverty among his people.
Speaking on Wednesday, the former county chief also decried the increasing levels of unemployment, despite the government's claims that it's opening up more job opportunities.
Kabogo observed that since most of the development initiatives are also marred with scandals and cases of corruption, there is a need for the state to directly deal with the citizens.
Consequently, the flamboyant leader urged the president to stop all the ongoing projects and instead channel the money to Kenyans in the form of yearly salaries, for a more direct effect.
He noted that judging by the tax income, each and every Kenyan will be able to receive Sh20,000 at the end of the year, which will directly help them start their own businesses.
"Wanasema makampuni mengi itafuta watu kuanzia sasa . Heri tuwache maendeleo tuchukue pesa ya mwaka moja tugawie wakenya kila mtu apate Sh20,000," Kabogo said.
This translates to; "It's being said that many companies will lay down staff henceforth. Let's halt development and share one year's money to the Kenyans. Each will get Sh20,000."
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, Wednesday night.
The former governor said that this way, each family of 10 will be able to acquire at least a motorbike, which will reduce both unemployment and the billions lost to graft.
"Ikifika 2022 kila familia ya watu kumi watanunua pikipiki kuliko nyani waende na pesa zetu. (By 2020 each family of ten will be owning a motorbike, rather than losing our money to some baboons)," he added.
This comes at a time when Uhuru has declared a total war on graft.
