Speaking on Saturday, the commentator observed that though the region currently supports the DP, it is very likely to abandon him for the BBI and betray him in the 2022 polls.

He said that given the that BBI seems friendly to President Uhuru Kenyatta, the region's kingpin, the region will most likely support it should it propose an expanded executive.

On the other hand, according to him, the DP who is both appearing as opposed to the same and also an outsider will be left out, with Mt Kenya putting its interests first.

"My quick guess is that with the tribal politics coming out to play as we move towards the vote, Uhuru may get a chunk of his people's vote because it will become clearer that Mt Kenya will have a stake in 2022 and thereafter through the BBI," Manyora said. (From Minute 6:00)

"With people like Waiguru (Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru) and even Uhuru becoming Prime Minister or something bigger, Mt Kenya will begin to shift slowly," he added.

The university don made the remarks on his YouTube analysis channel 'Take It or Leave It'.

He said that currently, the DP enjoys close to 80 per cent support of the region, adding that as things stand now, Mt Kenya would readily reject BBI as they cannot relate with it.

But he said that with time, the region will realize that it has a lot to gain from the document, which will see it move away from Ruto.

Majority of Mt Kenya politicians are currently seen as dancing to the DP's tune.

Some have even openly vowed to reject in on grounds that it seeks to propose amendments seeking to benefit a few members of the political elite while burdening Kenyans.
