This is after Chirasha Makanda, the county Agriculture CEC, allegedly openly demeaned Zack Barasa, a person living with a disability. Barasa is reportedly said to be eyeing Bungoma's governorship.

Speaking during a fundraiser at the Matilda Catholic Church last week, also attended by Barasa,  Makanda allegedly urged Bungoma residents not to elect a 'lame person'.

“How can a limping person want to be governor of Bungoma and would we be fools to elect a lame person,” he is quoted as having said, in reference to Barasa, in the Bukusu dialect.

Consequently, he has found himself under intense bashing on social media, with the PWDs in the county, under their leader Willis Makokha, calling for his designation.

Failure to this, they have threatened, they will move to court, with the accused on his side saying that he never uttered any demeaning words and is ready to resign if found to have.

Makanda has insisted that he had since written a resignation letter and will hand it over to governor Wycliffe Wangamati if anyone can provide proof that he insulted the group.

“I only asked Barasa to stop his criticism and give the government time to implement its pledges. There is nothing he is doing apart from raising political temperatures for no reason,” he is quoted by the Saturday Standard.
