The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has come out to state the true position concerning the health status of NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya.
The party felt the urge to set the record straight following widespread speculation and rumors in sections of the mainstream media and in social media regarding Magaya’s health.
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said Magaya gave the party his express consent and authority to clear the air and brief the nation about his health to quell the anxiety the speculations were causing.
Here is the statement from Sifuna as shared by ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale:
"He is currently stable and under the close watch and supervision of an expert team of doctors and we would like to assure the public that he continues to get the best care possible. In the meantime his doctors call for limited visits to allow for proper management of his situation."
"I would like to make a special appeal that we respect his privacy and that of his family during this time as he recuperates. The ODM Party shall continue to support Mr. Magaya as we have always done until his full recovery."
In a tweet on Tuesday September 3rd, Magaya said he was responding well to medication and thanked ODM for standing with him during the period he has been unwell.
"I have had a recurrent heart condition for the past four months and been admitted in hospital on three occasions latest being last week .On all occasions both the coalition leadership and the @TheODMparty have stood with me," Magaya posted.
