This is after they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Togo during the second match of Group G AFCON 2021 qualifiers, played on Monday night under the floodlight at Kasarani.

Despite knocking at Togolese door in the opening minutes, the visitors took time to settle as they came close for opener only for David Henen to send a free header wide on 15th minute as Stars lacked the cutting edge up front.

Togo crept into the game pushing Stars at the back in a balanced clash that kept fans yearning for more.

Togolese keeper Malcom Danjuma couldn't stop Stars' screamer goal by Eric Johanna Omollo.

With both sides looking uneasy, Eric Johanna Omollo unleashed a scintillating screamer between the two defenders, outside the penalty area arc.

The ball tapped the woodwork twice before crossing the goal line into the roof of the net, leaving Togolese keeper Malcom Danjuma for dead.

On resumption of the second half, Stars increased their tempo upfront in search of a cushion goal while Sparrowhawks lurked on counter-attacks in an effort to level things.

Kenneth Muguna came in for Lawrence Juma on 62nd minute even as Togolese levelled, thanks to Belenenses' defender Hakim Ouro-Sama superb header from a corner as it went past Ian Otieno.

The goal sent Stars into a panic mode, with their left-wing looking weak as Muguna struggled to pick his steps, a thing that saw Eric Omondi rested for Bonface Muchiri on 85th minute even as Stars failed to utilise chances that came on their way with the Sparrowhawks looking reenergized by the equalizer.

Olunga should have reinstated Stars lead with five minutes to go, only for him to hit at the defenders with Malcom beaten from a loose ball.

Stars striker Michael Olunga tussles for the ball with Togolese captain Dakonam Ortega, during the 2021 AFCON qualifiers match at Kasarani.

The game ended in a 1 - 1 tie.

The result leaves Comoros at the top of the Group G with 4 points while Stars are second though tied on two points with Egypt thanks to a superior goal, Togo lies at the bottom with a solitary point.
