Almost two weeks ago, Kwale County Women Representative Zuleikha Juma Hassan hit local and international news headlines after being kicked out of Parliament, her mistake being arriving in the chambers with her baby.
Temporary Speaker at the time, Luanda MP Chris Omulele ordered her out of the chambers for causing disorder.
She later said that she was forced to walk into Parliament’s debating chambers with her child due to an emergency.
But away from the Parliamentary drama, Hassan is happily married to a man she revealed is a religious teacher.
“I am also grateful that I got a husband who is supportive. He found me in politics. He is an Ustadh, a religious teacher. What we have done is he teaches part time and supports me in my work. So what we do he drives me a lot of the time when I am in the constituency,” she told Citizen TV’s Lilian Muli on Friday night.
The second-term Women Representative also revealed that her dad is the one who drove her into politics.
“I grew from a very supportive family with my dad, as I told earlier he is the one who got me into politics. We are just girls, the first three borns are girls,” she added.
