Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has welcomed the move Ukambani leaders made on Wednesday to speak in one voice towards Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking through Facebook on Thursday, the county boss expressed his satisfaction with the unity meeting held in Athiriver, Mavoko sub county in Machakos.
According to the act marks a new beginning for the region to soldier on and address matters affecting the region through BBI.
"I welcome the gesture of unity demonstrated yesterday at Stoni Athi. This should be seen as the new beginning," He said.
"Moving forward we will agree on one agenda which is beneficial to wananchi around which our unity will be hinged," he added.
He disclosed that he will be holding a high voltage meeting together with wiper leader Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Hon. Charity Ngilu and Hon Kivutha Kibwana next week to begin setting the region's agenda and send a strong message from ukambani to the rest of Kenya.
"As I said earlier, we need to per sue a unified approach to the BBI process," he emphasized
Mutua, who is in Australia for private activities proposed that as a region they need to involve and consult local professionals and academicians to advise them on critical issues they should focus on.
According to him, BBI is not about individual positions but it should be based to benefit the local residents and that's why they should come up with good content.
