Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has directed detectives to probe Makadara MP George Aladwa after the Citizen TV Westlands Underworld expose.
Mutyambai has also directed sleuths to investigate his Deputy Edward Kinuthia after damning claims by 70-year-old Dillip Bakrania.
The police boss said that the decision to probe the two was reached after he held a meeting with Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.
In a statement seen by Citizen Digital, Mutyambai on Tuesday said that the probe into the matter should kick off immediately.
The two were linked to an intricate web aiming at seizing his properties. The tycoon claimed that the authorities had threatened to deport him if he did not cooperate with them.
The police boss said that the decision to probe the two was reached after he held a meeting with Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.
“Towards this end, any member of the public, including Citizen TV, with documentary evidence on the said matter are invited to submit information to the Director Internal Affairs Unit; National Police Service…,” Mutyambai said in a statement.
The investigators are to submit their report within 14 days. The expose showed how different government officials have been using their powers to mistreat and defraud the wealthy family.
A controversial private investigator, Jane Mugo’s name has also been dragged into the saga.
The expose has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters with Kenyans calling for speedy probe into the matter.
