Rarieda Member of Parliament and renowned lawyer Otiende Amollo doubled down on his opposition to the Punguza Mizigo bill on Sunday.
Speaking during a church service in Rarieda Constituency, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator minced no words, saying that the bill must be brought down.
He said that the initiative, whose architect is Thirdway Alliance party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot, was spreading falsehoods and was riddled with impractical proposals.
"I want to tell you that the proposals in Punguza Mzigo they are themselves unconstitutional, they are impractical and they are spreading falsehoods. Punguza Mzigo must fall," the Rarieda legislator said.
The MP touted the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as the best path to resolving the litany of challenges that the country faces.
Punguza Mizigo Initiative sought a drastic reduction of the country's constituencies and the scrapping of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), proposals that have not sat well with scores of politicians.
Other high profile figures who have voiced their opposition are ODM leader Raila Odinga, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale.
Dr Ekuru Aukot has embarked on a charm offensive in the counties in a bid to woe MCAs to support his initiative.
