Abdul Noor, former Chair of the now-defunct The National Alliance (TNA) party in Nakuru county, has termed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) a sealed issue which cannot be negotiated.
The former Flamingo Ward Councillor says that Kenyans are very likely to be ultimately forced to accepting the changes set to come with the launch of the BBI report on Tuesday.
He says that judging by how the leaders of the push; President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga appear confident on the issue, it's evident that Kenyans won't have a say at all.
Speaking on Saturday evening, he also predicted that the BBI will decide what happens in the 2022 general elections, and Kenyans will with time realize that they must embrace it.
"The looming constitutional amendments is something that has been decided, they have agreed on the direction to 2022. Whether we like it or not there is nothing we can do (Hii katiba tunaenda kubadilisha ni kitu ishaamuliwa na hawa washaamua mwelekeo wa hadi 2022. Tupende tusipende hatuna la kufanya)," he said.
He spoke in an interview on Nakuru's Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi, also attended by former Subukia MP and veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere.
Noor, who lost in the Flamingo race to Eddy Kiragu in the 2017 polls, said that while the changes appear inevitable, they should include issues beneficial to Kenyans.
He said that they should not only be centred on leadership and executive expansion but should also look into matters to do with joblessness and an enhanced fight against corruption.
"Lets not only focus on the Prime Minister position. Let's also address things to do with fighting corruption (Tusiongee mambo ya waziri mkuu pekee, pia tuongee mambo mengine kama kupigana na ufisadi)," he added.
