In a tweet, Kalonzo said that the death of the Safaricom boss is a huge loss to this nation.

He said that Collymore will be remembered for transforming Safaricom into a leading mobile service provider.

He also said that through his leadership, the firm changed the lives of millions of Kenyans from different parts of the country.

“Robert (Bob) William Collymore was a man who had a brilliant work ethic and attitude. Bob was a kind and courageous man. He cared greatly for his staff at Safaricom and steered the company to impact many Kenyans lives. Rest in peace Bob. To his family our prayers are with you,” he said.

Collymore died on Monday morning after a long battle with cancer.

Citizen Journalist Jeff Koinange revealed that Collymore complained about pain in his spinal cord on Saturday. He noted that Collymore was ready for his death after doctors asked him not to make any long term plan in his life.

The death of the Guyana-born boss has shocked many Kenyans. President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have also mourned the death of Collymore after the revelation.
