The Cabinet Secretary for sports Amina Mohammed has appointed William Wahome Kabera to the Kenya Cultural Centre Board.
Mr Kabera is a former Jubilee Nairobi Senate aspirant. He contested in the 2017 elections where Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja won.
He came in at the fourth position after the elections results were out.
Kabera and Muthoni Garland were appointed as board members in a gazette notice seen by the Standard on Tuesday.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 (1) of the Kenya Cultural Centre Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and the Arts, appoint Muthoni Garland and William Wahome Kabera to be members of the Board of the Kenya Cultural Centre Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 16th October 2019,” read the notice as quoted by Standard.
The Kenya Cultural Centre Board is mandated with development and promotion of Kenya's cultural performances and incorporates the Kenya National Theatre.
Kabera has worked as a manager at Coca Cola (Nairobi Bottlers), where he had served for 20 years.
He has a bachelor's degree in food science engineering.
He is also a former board member at the dairy processor New KCC, where he stayed for a period of three years.
His appointment comes at a time Kenyan youths are complaining of lack of jobs, while the available jobs are being given to elderly retired people.
