In an interview with Citizen on Tuesday, Aukot said that the country has lagged behind because of loopholes in the constitution.

He said that he is rooting for the creation of a one-term presidency of seven years.

The politician said that the one-term leadership will ensure transparency and accountability within the government for better governance.

“We propose a one-term 7-year presidency. This is because we realised that there is a pattern associated with an incumbent seeking re-election 7 years is enough time to carry out development or lay out the framework for the next gov't,” he said.

He also said that his party is rooting for the abolishment of constituencies. He noted that the government should consider using ward funds to development different.

He also said that he has already collected one million signatures to change the constitution. Aukot further said that he will continue rooting for good leadership as long as he remains in the political arena.

“We propose to abolish constituencies and use wards to measure development… The wards are enough as units of representation,” he added.

Aukot, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, contested for the 2017 Presidential election but he lost.
