The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed recovering a pistol used in a shooting incident in Nairobi, involving Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
In an update on Twitter, the law enforcement agency said nine rounds of ammunition and a spent cartridge, have also been recovered and will form part of the evidence against the MP.
According to the DCI, the weapon will be subjected to ballistic analysis by forensic experts.
"Detectives have managed to recover the firearm that is suspected to have been used by Hon Babu Owino at the B Club shooting incident. Nine rounds of ammunition and a spent cartridge have also been recovered and placed as exhibit awaiting analysis by ballistic experts," the DCI tweeted.
Babu Owino is currently in police custody, and is expected to presented in court later today.
Earlier on, Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti noted that Babu will be charged with attempted murder.
“We will charge him with attempted murder. It is apparent that he wanted to kill the man,” Kinoti said as quoted by Nation.
