Speaking on Saturday in West Pokot, the governor called on the leaders to focus on service delivery and avoid moving around the country.

"I hear that there are female leaders who have formed groups. Lets respect leaders and those who elected us. (Naskia kuna wamama wameunda vikundi vikundi. Tuheshimu viongozi na wale walituchagua.)," Lonyangapuo said.

Lonyangapuo's remarks come amid rising political temperatures in the country, that has seen women leaders form various groups including;  Embrace and Inua Mama.

He warned that the groups could end up dividing the country.

Embrace is made up of female leaders in support of the handshake while Inua Mama draws it's membership from Deputy President William Ruto's allies.

Inua Mama has held two rallies in Garissa and Tana River Counties.

Governor Lonyangapuo called on male leaders not to follow suit by forming different factions as he reiterated President Kenyatta's message for leaders to work.

While Embrace and Inua Mama maintain that their intentions are noble, critics see them as nothing beyond political outfits whose creations have been informed by 2022 politics.
