The Kenyans youth unemployment gap keeps growing every day with limited help or salvation from the government. Though this has not dwindled the hope of the youth who keep being aggressive in finding means of employment.
Uasin Gishu youths are now calling on the government to give youths loans with no interest.
According to one youth leader and businessman in the area Samson Wanjama Mugo popularly known as Samkiz, this will help them start businesses as a means of creating employment.
"The only remedy to the joblessness in the country is through self-employment and the government should support us through giving us loans that don't attract any interest," said the youthful entrepreneur.
Wanjama spoke to the press during his homecoming ceremony where he graduated with a degree in business management procurement option at the University of Eldoret on Sunday.
"The loans should not have security since most youths are fresh graduates and own nothing and telling them to produce a title deed or logbooks is intimidation of the highest order," he added.
He further called on employers to retract their requirements while advertising for job vacancies. He says they put too many restrictions such as HELB clearance, certificate of good conduct, more than 5 years of experience among others.
He noted that the youths are fresh graduates and cannot afford the above things thus blinking them from applying for the jobs.
He, however, called on youths not to always depend on white-collar jobs and try self-employment which will help reduce unemployment among the youths.
Samkiz vied for the Huruma Ward Representative seat in 2017 but did not win.
