A 30-year-old man lost his life on Saturday evening while two others sustained serious injuries after a grisly accident along Mwala - Kithimani road.
The accident involving two motorbikes and a salon car happened near Ndiitha river in Mwala sub-county of Machakos county.
Mwala sub-county base commander Jack Ila confirmed the accident in a phone interview.
He said that one motorcyclist was towing another motorbike with another rider on it heading towards Kabaa from Mumbuni market.
However, on reaching the scene, they were hit from the rear by the salon car.
"The man died on the spot but we have not established whether he had boarded the first or the second motorbike," said Ila.
He said that the driver of the salon car escaped unhurt.
Those who got injured were rushed to Machakos Level Five hospital while the body of the one who died was preserved in the same hospital mortuary.
Ila urged motorist to be vigilant in road and cautious of other road users in a bid to avert accidents.
He said that a lot of accidents happening on the roads can be avoided if drivers adhered to traffic rules.
