Political analyst Javas Bigambo has said that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is once again preparing for a political battle, hence his many meetings with political leaders.
Raila has been meeting delegations of leaders and top state officials at his Capitol Hill offices, which includes a delegation from the Rift Valley region earlier in the week.
On Monday, he hosted former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and politicians Franklin Bett and Zakayo Cheruiyot, which Bigambo says is a preparation for the looming referendum.
According to the commentator, Raila is out to galvanize his side and ensure that he has the needed force, which will closely be followed by the 2022 elections.
“There is a referendum in the offing come next year, and immediately after, there will be a General Election. As a clever politician, he is putting his house in order, I believe sometimes Raila makes moves that even surprise him,” he told the Saturday Standard.
He also pointed out that in line with putting his house in order, Raila seems to have successfully reassembled his National Super Alliance (NASA) team which appeared to have collapsed after his loss to President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
With regards to Raila's power, political and state might after his truce with Uhuru last year, he observed that Raila has mastered the art of reviving himself after every blow.
Though he has repeatedly been seen leading demonstrations and criticising the state in the past, he has since brought that to a halt, but still remains at the centre of the nation's politics.
Bigambo argues that Raila has mastered the art of political manoeuvring, which makes it hard to understand his moves.
“When it comes to political maneuvring, Raila is unrivalled. He has the surprise and unpredictability factor and his moves are hardly understood,” he added.
