Speaking to members of the press while inspecting projects, Waititu thanked Barchok for not giving late Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso a hard time.

He said the deputy governor had not gone out in the public to install himself as governor when Laboso was undergoing treatment in London and India.

"But we should thank the deputy governor of Bomet. From the day the governor was sick for more than three months, we have not seen him on TV saying that he is the governor.("Lakini pia tumshukuru deputy governor wa Bomet. Kutoka siku ile hata governor alikuwa mgonjwa zaidi ya miezi tatu hatujaona yeye kwa TV akisema ati yeye ndio governor)," the Kiambu County boss said.

His words came amid an ongoing tussle between Waititu and his deputy Dr James Nyoro.

Laboso and Barchok never disagreed publicly unlike Waititu and Nyoro who continue to trade harsh words publicly.

Waittitu is grappling with a lawsuit filed against him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
