Confirming the arrest, Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo said the suspects, identified as Joel Sarara aged 28 and Earnest Mwita Iranda aged 26 were nabbed at Keroka bus stop where they had arrived to board a matatu.

"Member of the public informed police officers who were on a normal patrol on today about the suspects who refused to allow anyone go near the sacks where they had parked the bhang. Police acted swiftly and managed to apprehend the two suspects before they could escape," said the OCPD.

The OCPD said police recovered bhang weighing 17.5 kgs valued at Sh.750,000 and assured that the suspects will be taken to court on Wednesday to face charges .

He said police officers are vigilant especially during this festive season when drug dealers may be selling illegal drugs to youths.

"We will not allow people to transport, offer for sale, grow or smoke bhang. This festive season security officers are on the look out to ensure drug dealers are dealt with in accordance with the law," he added.

Apondo warned residents against venturing into illegal business.
