Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has denied claims that he's battling ill-health, after days of social media trolls.
The former military officer has lately appeared drastically reduced, a matter that raised eyebrows from among his supporters and critics.
In a message published in his various social media platforms and personal blog, Yowerikmuseni.com, the veteran leader insisted that he was fine.
According to him, he decided to cut weight following advice from his physicians who raised concerns about his body mass.
“I am not tired at all. I have, however, deliberately lost weight by shedding off that fat that I had allowed to accumulate on my body frame because the doctors had not explained to us clearly the mistake of not fighting fat,” Museveni said.
According to him, he shed off 30 kgs from his 106 kg. Currently, he's at 76 Kgs which he says are perfect for his height 5'7.
On retirement, the veteran leader insisted that it's the members of his National Resistance Movement and the people of Uganda who will decide.
"Some of the responders were negative. Retire, they shouted at me. That will be decided by our Party, the NRM and the People of Uganda," he said as quoted by the Monitor.
Interestingly, Museveni pulled the post from his personal blog hours after posting. However, he has since reinstated the message.
At 75, Museveni who was first elected in 1986, is still interested in 2021 polls.
Ugandan parliament recently scrapped off age limit.
