The petitioner, George Baraza has now decided to sue the Attorney-General, the Council of UoN and Public Service Commission (PSC) following the replacement of his replacement.

According to the petitioner the process to get a new vice-chancellor was unlawful.

Justice Maureen Onyango has admitted the case as urgent after the petitioner moved to court over the same.

Onyango said that he is satisfied that the case is urgent and it needs to be handled with immediate effect to avoid a leadership crisis at the place.

“I am satisfied that the matter is urgent and therefore I certify it as urgent, parties to come for a hearing on July 10,” said Justice Onyango, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Baraza insisted that the university board should have also considered the appointment of other officials including VC, principals of constituent colleges and their deputies, which was not the case in this situation.

He said that the process did not follow the requirements of the law of the country.

Mbithi had attempted to remain in office after he filed a petition seeking for the extension of his term in office but the council declined his request.
