Harambee Stars have officially been knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
The team failed to progress to the round of 16 after Cameroon were desperately held to a barren draw by Benin in a thrilling match at the Ismailia Stadium.
The Kenyan side would have qualified for the next round had Cameroon bagged a win from the match.
In other results, Angola lost to Mali, which was favorable to Kenya, but since Cameroon did not manage to beat Benin, Kenya failed to make the cut.
Harambee Stars kicked off the tournamanet on a low note losing 2-0 to Algeria.
In the second match, the team staged one of the most historic comebacks in AFCON when they hammered Taifa Stars from Tanzania 3-2.
Harambee Stars conceded two goals in the first half and responded with one, before they scored an additional two in the second half.
Kashiwa Reysol's Michael Olunga is among Kenyan players who stood out during the competition, after netting a brace against Tanzania to reignite the hopes of the team progressing to the next stage, until Benin disappointed them.
Kenya was in Group C alongside Senegal, Algeria, and Tanzania. The team came third in the pool with 3 points.
