Even though there are some great nannies out there, there are others who are not so great. It is, therefore, the parents' responsibility to be vigilant throughout their stay with you.

Here are three signs of a bad nanny.

1. The nanny seems secretive about the events of the day

A good nanny will freely keep you informed of what happened throughout the day. If you notice that they are not willing to share the information with you, this can be a sign that there are hiding something they don't want you to be aware of.

2. Your child exhibits fear when they see them

Your child can be a good source of the clues to look out for. Be keen on whether your child is happy or sad when he/she sees the nanny or how they react when the nanny looks at them. If your child exhibits signs of anxiety or fear, it is important to discuss the situation with the nanny as soon as possible.

3. Your child is often dirty

A good nanny should be reliable. If you notice that your child is often dirty, it is a sign of tiredness and lack of concern which shows that your nanny has become unreliable. Things such as diaper rashes or if the child appears to have been in wet and soiled clothes for a long period of time, are signs of neglect from the nanny.
