Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for proper investigations into Deputy President William Ruto's claims that his life is in danger.
The DP on Monday, last week claimed that some top State officials could be planning his murder after seeing a letter purportedly written by a Cabinet Secretary, suggesting the same.
The former vice president now wants the matter probed and the persons responsible subjected to the law in the instance that the letter is found to be fake.
"The truth should be established and action taken. If the assassination letter was fake, the people behind it should own up and take responsibility," he said.
The leader made the remarks during an interview on KTN's Point Blank show on Wednesday night.
At the same time, he warned that the claims could have very serious effects on the nation if wrongly handled, considering that they are touching on the deputy president.
"Touching on the life of number two in any country is an important matter. It affects citizens in the country," he added.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since established that the letter was forged, and is consequently pursuing people close to the DP who are thought to have authored it.
