Speaking on Saturday, the ex-lawmaker claimed majority of Kenyans are still grappling with poverty.

According to him, about 95 percent of Kenyans have nothing to be proud of, placing them under the rule of the remaining 5 percent who are rich.

He opined that only the rich, who he claimed are about 5%, have a say in shaping the economy.

"The economy is being run by 5% of Kenyans. People don't have money, they are watching it on Viusasa (Economy sasa inaruniwa na 5% ya wakenya. Watu hawana pesa, wanaonea pesa Viusasa)," he said.

Mutura was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, also attended by Makadara MP George Aladwa and political analyst Brian Weke.

He claimed the Jubilee government can no longer better the situation, faulting President Uhuru Kenyatta for his truce with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

"The entrance of the handshake has caused lack of a direction. (Vile handshake iliingia sasa hakuna mwelekeo)," he opined.
