In a Facebook post on Monday, Miguna attributed his success to hard work, resourcefulness, persistence and integrity despite being raised by a single mother, together with his six other siblings.

"My father died when my mother was 6 months pregnant with me. My mother did not know how to read or write and worked with her bare hands to raise 7 children," Miguna's Facebook post read in part.

"How did the son of poor peasants in Kano become a national and an international figure? Hard work. Resourcefulness. Integrity. Persistence. Fearlessness," he added.

Miguna, known for his abrasive nature stated that his hard work has enabled him to buy everything he has.

"Every shilling or dollar I have, I have earned with my sweat. Every property I own I have bought with my hard-earned money..."

Miguna was deported last year over his role in the mock swearing-in of Raila Odinga on January 30, 2018.

His bid to return to the country in March 2018 hit a snag after he was denied access at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport leading to a 72-hour standoff with immigration officials.
