Emmanuel Kipchirchir and Dorcas Chepchirchir won senior races in the 29th edition of the University of Eldoret Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Kipchirchir who trains in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County won the 10 kilometres race after clocking 26:44:07. He was followed by Nicholas Kimeli in a time of 26:56:2 and Robert Kiprop (27:01:06).
“The race was fine but very competitive and I tried my level best to emerge the winner. I used the race to prepare for the Kass Marathon scheduled for 17th November 2019,” said Kipchirchir.
Jepchirchir who was participating in her first-ever cross country race won senior women in a time of 30:26:3.
Lillian Chebii finished second with 31:16:19 while Nancy Chepkemoi (31:13:3) was third.
“The Race was fine but hard some difficulties especially at the start but I managed all odd and became the winner. I used the race to prepare for the Tusky’s Cross Country which will be held in Eldoret town in November," Jepchirchir said.
Shadrack Kipchirchir won the junior men 6 kilometres race followed by Weldon Kipkurui and Reuben Longasiwa respectively while Jacqueline Cherono won the Junior 6 kilometres women race. Mary Jerop took position two.
